Mother's Day Tuesday, May 20, 2008 |

Couple of people now asked me what I did for Wany on Mother's Day. "Huh? Why would I do anything for Wany on Mother's Day? Isn't Mother's Day for our mother(s)? Aren't there Valentine's Day, Anniversary, and Hallmark invented Sweetest Day for our wives? Isn't Mother's Day something Ellie and Kate need to take care of?"

I suppose Ellie and Kate being so young I should have taught them a song and a dance. Wait, I'm really never alone with my kids long enough to do anything like that.

I'm sure I will soon wise up and show appreciation for my kids' mother. It still doesn't make sense to me yet. I still need little more convincing.

No. I don't expect anything from Wany on Father's Day. Although hugs from Ellie and Kate will be nice.

Lim Family Gathering |

Lots of Lim family gatherings when hal-muh-knee is around.

Tomorrow we are visiting my sister in Elmhurst as my sister from Madison is coming down with my nieces.

ballet Monday, May 19, 2008 |

Ellie's ballet appearance went successfully. She's in the youngest group of performers so they 3-4 year olds got the biggest applause. They did very good job and none of them got the stage fright from what I can tell.

I managed to stay awake through the performance although I did spend considerable time reading the pamphlet to keep myself entertained. I've never understood what A Midsummer Night's Dream was about so I had to do some studying. My mom did not survive through the performance.

I have lot of unnecessary comments which I will omit here.

mom in town Wednesday, May 14, 2008 |

My mom is in town for couple of weeks. She's staying with us on weekends. My sister has her on weekdays. Ellie and Kate are getting along really well with her. Ellie showed my mom her room and likes hanging around her. Kate of course gets along with just about anyone so that's not much of a shocker.

Anyway, just a quick post since I've been absent for few days...

wii fun Friday, May 09, 2008 |

A friend pointed me to this video. This is very cool. If you don't think so then... oh well. We are not kindred spirits. I tried this out myself and it works. I didn't have the LED safety glass so I used a camera and a camcorder together in night-vision mode. Very cool.

You can also try it with two remote controls next to each side of your head but I must say to a casual observer it looks bit silly.

I'm late to the game but I will have to try out more wii-mote re-purposing projects.

notes Monday, May 05, 2008 |

#1 - I have no plans to ever buy GTA IV on PS3. Having played GTA III, which I can't say I'm proud of doing, unless you are a sociologist studying criminal behavior, there is very little redeeming entertainment value in morally bankrupt behaviors that you must engage in to progress in the game. The game received perfect score in many core review sites. It will be hard to resist the temptation. At first, I thought the series offered some difficult choices in an open environment to consider but in reality, freedom of choices just isn't there.

#2 - I am looking forward to LEGO Indiana Jones though...

#3 - Less than 5 days until my mom's arrival. Preparation? 0% completed.

#4 - I left credit card at a restaurant yesterday. I called today to report it lost and called the restaurant. The restaurant had the card and I asked them to destroy it. Interestingly, I did have $4.95 charge on the credit card that was fraudulent from some online company. I think it was a coincidence but it does make me wonder...

#5 - I am regretting my book choice. Playing for Pizza was more entertaining...

playground Sunday, May 04, 2008 |

Just bunch of photos... I'm shooting for about 3 posts a week.

Kate likes to sit on her rocking chair and read.

Rare photo of Kate with dress.

Ellie feeling little chipper after strawberry lemonade and chocolate cake.

We walked to a playground of the school that Ellie will probably be attending this fall... The girls were extremely happy be out as winter cabin fever is starting to wear off. Rest are bunch of photos from the playground.

Being right place at the right time. Fortunately no one got injured. =)

Last year, I had to hold her hands going up one of these things. Now she can climb up on her own confidently.

Kate riding a big slide one her own.

speed round Thursday, May 01, 2008 |

A speed round at the library. I had to pick something quickly. It should come as no surprise that I do listen to his show when I happen to be in the car at the same time.

I escaped jury duty this week. Whew.

I miss sleeping in...

Kate almost died today. OK, I'm exaggerating a bit but her head landed on plastic instead of concrete. She's alright.

Last night I put her on the rocking chair. She sat on her own staring at me. I rocked the chair back and forth and sang some songs. She begin to drift in and out of sleep. Her eyes closing every so slowly then spring back only to return again to sleepiness. Then she went night night... I moved her to her crib.

Psalm 139:7-14

7 Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? 8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, [a] you are there. 9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, 10 even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. 11 If I say, "Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," 12 even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
